First Day of K-3: Behind the Scenes

crystalstine.meBehind the scenes is a weekly link up where we tell the real story about a picture. The good and the bad. All the accidents behind it and the chaos that you can't see. Then we link up with Crystal Stine on Tuesdays. That's it. It's that simple. The hard part- finding the picture to use. For me it is because there are so many crazy ones that come from a week at home with these boys that it is hard to decide which one to use. But since this week was the first day of school for my boys and the first day of K-3 for my baby, it was easy.
This kid right here steals my heart every single day. He got up yesterday, refused to eat breakfast until he was dressed, cleaned his plate, and then asked to go to school. He grabbed the board out of my hand (unlike the big brothers who griped about the whole thing) and started posing before I could even get my camera. I have cheesy smiles, photo perfect smiles, blurry photos, and one where he ran up and "winked" at me when I snapped the picture (winking right now means we close both eyes and say "I wink at you".) He then proceeded to sit at the table and do what I asked for a whole 5 mins before deciding he was bored and would rather go to Grandma's like last year than go to school. This is going to be an interesting year to say the least. If by the end of the year he will sit still for 45 mins to an hour and complete a few worksheets each day I will be a happy camper. After all he is only 3.

Your turn! Head over to Crystal's and join in!

  1. Oh there is some adorableness in that smile. I just love how enthusiasitc kids are about EVERYTHING when they're that age (okay maybe not about bed time) but you know what I mean. I love you story friend and your committment to educate your children how you feel is best.

  4. Oh, smile. :) Guess what? My turn is coming in just two weeks when my baby girl goes off to PK3! Not sure how to feel about that, but I know the first day, picture-taking will be an adventure, for sure. It always is with her. :) Blessings and happy Tuesday to you...love this and that smile from your boy!

    1. Thanks Mel. I think after 2 days that I am ready to send him somewhere else for k3 instead of at home. We have to keep stopping for kisses and hugs. But it will be worth it (I think).

    1. This is his good side. We breezed through the 2s and then about a month before we hit 3 he turned into this holy terror at times. But I have learned it is normally when he is tired or over stimulated. He is a charmer most of the time though. Thank you for stopping by!

  6. I love the board idea telling what special day it is! And the fact that the others griped about it makes me feel not so alone in the "Mom, DO You Have to Take A Picture of Everything?" stage. What a cutie and enjoy this week!

    1. I have had to agree to leave the camera at home a lot lately (they forget about the one on the phone). Check out Pinterest for a lot of first day of school ideas. They are great.
